Technology

The requirement for speed, volume and accuracy made it impractical to deploy anything but a sophisticated CATI (Computer Aided Telephone Interviewing) system. Unfortunately, no off-the-shelf system could handle the combination of massive amounts of real-time data flows and extreme complexities inherent in a labor market survey. Consequently, we built our own from the ground up.

ERISS has spent tens of thousands of man-hours and millions in R&D to perfect a system that today is recognized as one of the most flexible and efficient business intelligence collection systems in existence.

The CATI system alone encompasses dozens of internally developed software systems to handle everything from survey preprocessing, call processing, targeting and management, to post-processing data validation, integration and aggregation.

Dozens of additional applications support the many web-based, interactive dissemination tools developed and hosted by ERISS. These, in turn, interact with our sophisticated phone, email and fax messenger services that handle large volumes of communication between employers, jobseekers and workforce professionals. In addition, an entire suite of programs and servers are dedicated to scraping, classifying and aggregating tens of thousands of new job openings every day in support of our real-time salary and job market scans.

These systems access a constantly growing data store approaching 1/2 Terra bytes of internal information (500 Giga bytes).

All systems are hosted in our state-of-the-art data center containing 24 servers connected to the outside world with eight T-1 lines. All ERISS web applications and dissemination tools are hosted and maintained internally.

The result is a new breed of information that is more current, more local and more detailed than ever possible before.
